Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 19, 2026

BoulderScoring ("we," "us," or "our") operates the BoulderScoring website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Authentication credentials (managed through Firebase Authentication)

Competition Data

When you participate in competitions through the Service, we collect:

  • Your name as entered for the competition
  • Scores, attempts, and results
  • Rankings and standings
  • Team affiliations (if applicable)

Usage Data

We may automatically collect information about how you access and use the Service, including device type, browser type, and general usage patterns.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Manage competition scoring, rankings, and results.
  • Communicate with you about your account or the Service.
  • Improve and develop the Service.
  • Ensure the integrity of competition records.

3. Competition Data Retention

Competition data — including participant names, scores, attempts, rankings, and results — is retained indefinitely, even after account deletion. This data is essential to maintaining the integrity of competition records and historical standings.

Because competition results are shared records that affect all participants, removing one individual's data would compromise the standings and results for every other participant in that competition. By using the Service to participate in competitions, you consent to this retention.

4. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time. When your account is deleted:

  • Your authentication credentials and login access will be removed.
  • Your personal contact information (email address) will be deleted.
  • Competition data associated with your participation will be retained as described in Section 3. This includes your name as entered for competitions, scores, and rankings.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Competition results: Scores, rankings, and participant names are visible to other users of the Service as part of competition results. This is a core function of the Service.
  • Service providers: We use third-party services (such as Firebase for authentication and hosting, and AWS for server infrastructure) that may process data on our behalf.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication and web hosting.
  • Amazon Web Services: Server infrastructure and data storage.

These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your data.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a competition includes minors, the Organizer is responsible for obtaining appropriate parental consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and personal contact information (subject to the competition data retention described in Sections 3 and 4).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

To exercise these rights, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact
